A presentation took place at the Elgin Army Reserve Centre, where the detachment is based. Lord Lieutenant Grenville Johnston inspected the detachment – who were all smartly turned out. He then presented Cpl Curtis with her certificate of appointment.

The presentation was attended by the Battalions Commandant Colonel Iain Cassidy, Deputy Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Reid, Moray Company Commander Major Carrie Higgins and Louise’s family.

Cpl Curtis said: "It was a huge honour to be nominated for the position and I am pleased to have been chosen as the lord lieutenant's cadet, representing my detachment and the young people of Moray."

Louise is one of the detachment's senior cadet instructors and is teaching the cadets of Elgin from the Cadet Force syllabus.

1st Battalion The Highlanders Elgin Detachment meets every Wednesday at the Elgin Army Reserve Centre, on Edgar Road, between 7-9.15pm.
