AN ELGIN car park will close next week for essential work.

The St Giles Centre multi-storey car park will be closed from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, for essential maintenance works.

The entrance and exit sliding gate mechanism will be replaced for safety and security. While the car park is closed, Moray Council workers will also carry out surface repairs on some of the ramps.

The council said the car park needed to be closed to ensure the safety of staff carrying out the work, which could not be undertaken during lockdown as critical services were prioritised.

Alternative parking, including disabled parking provision, is detailed on the council website.
