A CONFERENCE designed to maximise Moray's potential has been postponed due to the "ongoing and rapidly unfolding nature" of the Coronavirus outbreak.
TsiMORAY's Join the Dots event was due to take place in Elgin on March 25. It has now been postponed until the autumn.
Around 20 expert speakers were expected at the event, which had attracted a sell-out delegates list of 190 people.
This morning, the third sector body confirmed the decision on social media.
In a statement, leadership team members Jackie Maclaren and Fabio Villani wrote: "It is with regret that tsiMORAY has taken the decision to postpone our annual Join the Dots conference due to the ongoing and rapidly unfolding nature of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
"We are confident that Join the Dots: Maximising Moray's Potential will have a considerable and positive impact in Moray as we focus on ways to nurture the many assets embedded in our local communities and natural environment.
"While important for Moray, we do not consider this event to be time-critical, and with the current escalating situation surrounding COVID-19, we have judged it prudent to have a carefully-managed postponement rather than a last-minute cancellation."
The body said a new date will be circulated in due course and apologised for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by the decision.
Distiller William Grant and Sons has also taken the decision to close Glenfiddich and the Balvenie visitor centres, at Dufftown, as a precautionary measure.
