TWO Elgin eateries have been nominated for the Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year Award Scotland at the Asian Curry Awards.

Spice Tandoori and Panache are two of the nine restaurants in Scotland up for the award.

The 2021 running of the awards ceremony, due to take place at London's Grosvenor House on November 21, will see winners announced.

A record number of nominees will be whittled down by online public vote before visiting judges determine the eventual winners.

The event, organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), are the only accolades acknowledging the full panoply of Asian cuisines and are widely regarded as the sector’s most prestigious.

ACF chairman Yawar Khan said: “The pandemic has been devastating for many hospitality businesses and workers.

“These awards will acknowledge the sector’s resilience and innovation in the face of such adversity.”

The other restaurants up for the award in Scotland are Ignite and Mother India's Cafe (both Edinburgh), Charcoals (Glasgow), The Royal Bengal (Dunfermline), Multan Tandoori (Paisley), Sanam Tandoori (Falkirk) and Mushtaqs (Hamilton).
