AN ELGIN girl has been using her time in lockdown to write poems for her friends and teachers.
Kayleigh-Ann Mackenzie (4) has been missing her fellow pupils and the staff at Seafield Nursery.
Now the four-year-old, who will move up to Seafield Primary School after the summer, has turned to poetry to express her feelings.
Mum Diane Wells said: "She is missing everyone at school, her friends and teachers, and her family as well.
"We were writing her feelings down and noticed we haven't seen kids doing any poems or anything so it all came together.
"Kayleigh-Ann is looking forward to going up to P1 – but some of her friends are staying behind to continue with nursery and she is upset about that."
Partner Paul Mackenzie and friend Lynne Anderson have helped with the poems.
Kayleigh-Ann's teachers have been a great help, too, with classes continuing to take place online.
Ms Wells added: "Miss Sutherland does a group Zoom call with Kayleigh-Ann and a few other kids from the nursery once a week.
"On behalf of Kayleigh-Ann, myself and Paul we would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Seafield Nursery, Kayleigh and Diane from Kaizen Kickboxing and Zara Mortimer School of Dance.
"Without these classes on zoom we would be lost."
