The sports centre was used this week to treat patients from the Linkwood and Elgin community surgeries and will be used throughout November.

Elgin Academy is hosting a mass flu clinic next week for patients of the Maryhill practice.

Dr Sarah McGregor said she was “eternally grateful” to the sports centre for helping out after NHS Grampian had struggled to find suitable venues in conjunction with Moray Council where social distancing could be easily implemented.

Between the three Elgin surgeries there are around 12,000 patients eligible for their annual flu jab.

Kathryn Evans, chief executive of the centre, said: “We need to support the NHS as much as possible and it was great we were able to lend a hand. The sports centre has lots of space and when we heard they were struggling to find a venue we were happy to help.”
