Elgin homes evacuated after grenades found in property

GRENADES were found in an Elgin property on Wednesday afternoon, leading to nearby houses being evacuated.

An Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit were called to a home on Braemorriston Road in the town after the discovery – although police said there was no danger to the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 1.05pm on Wednesday, August 10, to a report of suspected grenades found in a house in Braemorriston Road, Elgin.

“Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit attended and they were made safe.

"Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution. There was no risk to the wider public.”
