MARJORIE Duthie has taken over as president of Elgin Inner Wheel for a second time.

Outgoing president Bertha Ritchie handed over the chains of office at the organisation's final meeting of the season.

Marjorie, who has been in Inner Wheel for the past 14 years, last held the position 2013/2014.

She will be taking over in time for the group's 70th anniversary next year.

Marjorie said: "I always say that Inner Wheel is about fun, fellowship and friendship. We have a super group of people here and we get some very good speakers.

"Bertha did a great job and she's going to be a hard act to follow – but I will try my best."

Elgin Inner Wheel dedicates itself to raising money for local charities.

At the same meeting cheques for £250 were handed over to Moray Stroke Folk and to Greyfriars, a social group to people with learning disabilities.

In addition, a £500 cheque was donated to the multiple sclerosis help group Moray MS Community.

Elgin Inner Wheel currently has a healthy roll call of 45 members and will restart its monthly luncheon meetings at the Eight Acres Hotel in September.
