Moray Courts: Elgin joiner fined for threatening behaviour in town
A 27-year-old man has been fined for acting in a threatening manner on Elgin High Street.
Ethan Reid was asked to leave Joanna’s nightclub at about 1am on Sunday, April 7.
Elgin Sheriff Court heard that he was abusive to the venue’s employees.
Later that same night he was then thrown out of Dicey’s Bar.
Procurator fiscal Victoria Sliver said: “Again, he was ranting and shouting at staff.”
A short time afterwards, Reid began to shout abuse at passers-by while standing near the taxi rank, challenging people to fight him.
This was despite the best efforts of a member of his family.
The court was told that this person, who had come to pick up Reid from Elgin town centre, did their best to get him to leave quietly.
The joiner was subsequently arrested by police officers.
Reid, who has four children and lives at Glenlossie Drive, Elgin, represented himself in court.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of acting in a threatening manner and was fined £270.
