TWO Moray schools have been working in tandem on a Christmas song aimed at encouraging pupils to walk, cycle and scoot to school.

"Walk for the World this Wintertime" has been produced along with Living Streets Scotland, part of the UK charity for everyday walking.

Strider, Living Streets' foot-shaped mascot, last week joined children at Elgin's Bishopmill Primary School, where the song's video was filmed.

Pupils produced the song at Gordonstoun School, which offered up its recording suite and facilities, and together choreographed the steps for a dance routine.

Bishopmill participates in WOW – Living Streets' year-round walk-to-school challenge. The body aims to create better walking environments and inspire people to walk more.

WOW rewards children who walk to school at least once a week with a badge each month, with 10 to collect across the academic year. Children log their journeys on the WOW Travel Tracker when they arrive at school, which allows the school to monitor walking rates across the year.
