POLICE investigating a report of a sexual assault are appealing for dash-cam footage of Elgin's Doocot Park.

Officers are asking for members of the public to come forward if they might have footage of the park and surrounding streets captured between 11pm last Thursday and 1.30am on Friday morning.

The incident occurred at around 1am and involved the sexual assault of a 33-year-old woman in the area of the park close to North Street.

Police want to trace a man in connection with the incident.

He has been described as being aged in his 20s, of slim build, and between 5ft7 and 6ft in height.

He was wearing a black hooded top and was last seen walking into the park.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Andrew Sharp said: "The victim was not injured but was understandably left shaken.

"These type of incidents are rare in the North East of Scotland and extra patrols will be carried out in the area as a result.

"If anyone recalls seeing or hearing anything unusual or recalls seeing a man going into or leaving Doocot Park in the early hours, please get in touch with police with any information you have."

Information can be reported anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111.
