AN ALDI Elgin shopper who won the chance to go mad in the aisles has raised more than £800 for local foodbank Moray Food Plus.

Michaela Hunt, who was chosen as the winner of an in-store competition, took part in the five-minute Supermarket Sweep trolley dash for the charity on Monday, July 12.

The mum-to-be raised a total £824.02 for Moray Food Plus, as well as picking up more than £400 in goods for herself.

Michaela successfully found three special Scottish products on her shopping list, which meant Aldi doubled the total value of her haul and donated the lump sum to the nominated charity.

The contestant said: "I’m so pleased to have raised some money for the food bank.

"I had a great time and managed to get lots of food which I’ll be using to prepare some meals for the freezer for us to have when our first baby arrives in a few weeks.

"Thank you to all the staff at Aldi who helped on the night."

Mairi McCallum, project manager at Moray Food Plus, said: "Thank you to Aldi for supporting us through such a fun initiative.

"Congratulations to the Supermarket Sweep winner who raised a fantastic amount which will help us in the work we do across Moray."

Richard Holloway, Aldi regional managing director for Scotland, said: "The Aldi Supermarket Sweep is a firm favourite across the country, and we are so pleased to be able to bring it back after a year hiatus.

"Congratulations to Michaela who managed to raise an incredible £824.02 for Moray Food Plus and take home a trolley-full of Aldi goodies for herself."
