A96 collision east of Inverness Airport sparks response from emergency services

Motorists have been urged to take care after an accident on the A96 near Inverness Airport.

Amey, which maintains Scotland’s north-east trunk road network including the A96, confirmed that there had been a “road traffic incident” in a short update at 12.18pm.

The incident is on the stretch of road heading eastbound from the Inverness Airport roundabout to Nairn.

Traffic Scotland also confirmed that the road was restricted “in both directions” at Drumine, which is a short distance to the east of the airport roundabout.

A spokesperson said: “The A96 is currently restricted in both directions at Drumine due to a road traffic incident. Motorists are advised to use caution on approach and allow extra time for their journey.”

No further details were available at the time of writing.

The emergency services have been approached for comment.
