Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) vehicles were sent to the incident, after reports of a car fire, and firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The road is still closed and Police Scotland confirmed that only one vehicle was involved.

However, it has not provided details of its occupants, or whether there were any injuries.

An SFRS spokesperson said firefighters “remain working to support their partners”.

Drivers impacted by the closure of the Belts Road can use the B9103 as a diversion.

The SFRS spokesperson added: "Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene, where firefighters extinguished the fire and remain working to support their partners."
