A B&B facility used by people in Moray undergoing cancer treatment is reopening tomorrow with extended safety measures in place.

.

CLAN Haven on Westburn Road in Aberdeen closed for several weeks so it could be altered round to comply with social distancing guidelines.

The accommodation is primarily used by people travelling from a distance to access cancer treatment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

With treatments often lasting weeks or months, guests regularly stay for long periods at CLAN Haven.

Each room is now equipped with a microwave, fridge and eating area, which minimises the need to share facilities and enables guests who are required to shield to do so effectively.

The lounge will remains closed, but the kitchen and laundry will be available on a rota basis.

The well-maintained sensory garden will also be available to use.

Iona Mitchell, the charity head of support services, said: "CLAN Haven is incredibly important to people and their families who are travelling to Aberdeen for cancer treatment, and even more so during this challenging time.

"The safety of our clients is our upmost priority and we have reinforced the existing safety measures.

"We are also continuing to offer transport to the hospital with our minibus service."

"This is the first step in reopening CLAN’s services and centres to our clients in the coming weeks."

Anyone undergoing cancer treatment who is interested in staying at the accommodation should call 01224 647000.
