Buckie panto set for ‘hair-tfelt’ performances as classic tale of Rapunzel takes to the stage
There will be plenty of ‘hair-tfelt’ performances to enjoy when a local theatre group bring their annual panto to the stage.
Thursday, February 13 - Saturday, February 15 will see Buckie Community Theatre unveil their latest fun-filled offering in the shape of the classic tale Rapunzel.
The performances will return for a third year to Buckie’s North Church hall.
It follows on from their triumphant take on the iconic Robert Louis Stevenson tale Treasure Island last year.
The theatre group will be telling the tale, no doubt with their own twist on things, of the girl condemned to live all alone in a tower by a sorceress.
Taking on the lead role of the girl with the seriously long hair is Gemma Archibald, with Leah Hay portraying the evil sorceress. Theatre group stalwart Pauline Mcintosh swaps her piratical role as Long John Silver in Treasure Island for Mother Gothel. She is combining this with the role of assistant director of the production.
There is bound to be hilarity - not to mention a double entendre or two - when show director Kevin Oakes takes to the stage as Fanny Follicle.
In other roles are: Flynn McRider- Holly Allardice; Sergeant Robin Banks - Claire MacLeod; PC Bobby - Cam Berrey; Robot Redford - Ollie McDonald; Queen - Sara Chiappa; Young Queen - Charlotte Devlin; Lady in Waiting - Lauren Innes; Agnes McRider - Danya Smith.
The cast will be ably assisted by a chorus comprising Amy Mcintosh, Charleigh Cormack, Charlotte Devlin, Danya Smith, Erin Riddoch, Harper Ferguson, Isaac Wood, Lauren Innes and Thea Evans.
Completing the creative team are musical director Holly Allardice and assistant musical director Sara Chiappa.
The evening performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday are at 7.30pm, with the doors opening at 7pm. The curtain goes up on the Saturday matinee performance at 2pm, the doors opening half an hour before
Tickets - which cost £10 - may still be available for some performances - message the Buckie Community Theatre Facebook page or phone 07707 240645.
Away from the hard work preparing for the panto, the theatre group team have been busy the last few months fundraising through a number of affordable events. These included a NERF Battle at the Victoria Function Hall, a tombola at the Legion and a ladies’ day with The Teddy Bear Support Group at the Buckpool Golf Club.
