A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed the blaze is now under control.

They said: “We were alerted to a gorse fire in Culbin Forest, near Forres.

"Operations Control immediately mobilised five fire appliances to the scene. There are no casualties, and crews remain in attendance."

Being so remote, Culbin is susceptible to fires, particularly in dry and windy conditions.

It suffered from four during the long, hot summer of 2020, including one at Cloddymoss which burned an area the size of four football pitches.
