Five-week closure of Bishopmill Bridge in Elgin starts Thursday





Bishopmill Bridge in Elgin is set to close tomorrow (Thursday) for five weeks as it undergoes a £380,000 upgrade.

Drivers heading in the direction of Forres will be diverted via Morriston Road towards the A96.

Those heading towards Lhanbryde will be sent towards the Landshut Bridge from Lesmurdie Road to the A96 East.

Pat Munro Ltd will carry out the work – the first in the bridge’s 39-year history.

It will include the replacement of bearings, expansion joints, scour protection, waterproofing and surfacing works.

The bridge carries around 14,400 vehicles a day and is a main link through Elgin from the A96 towards Lossiemouth.
