LHANBRYDE'S community centre was packed with people as the village's annual flower show played out at the weekend.

Dozens of exhibits – from beautiful blooms to bakes and crafts – were on show at the event, run by Lhanbryde and District Gardening Club.

Winners from the local community and further afield were celebrating inside the hall after judges picked their winners for the 2019 Annual Show.

And in gardens within the village, there were further festivities as the winners of the Best Garden and Hanging Basket competition were announced.

The Craigie Cup for best large garden went to Graeme Hastie, of 13 Kirkhill Drive, while J Taylor of 1 Walker Cresecent took the Merson Shield for runner-up.

Winning the Jura Trophy for best small garden was Sheila Gowan, of 16 Drumbeg Crescent, while the Ramshaws, of 6 Blackshaw Court, took the Will-Mar Trophy for Runner-up.

The Threaplands Award for best hanging basket went to June Andrew, of 12 Cranmoss Court.

Club secretary Gail Mands said it was a show to remember and thanked the committee, helpers and exhibitors for making it a success.

She said: "It was a great show despite the terrible weather on the day. We had lots of vegetable entries and quite a few novices entering the different sections, which is great to see.

"There were entries from all over Moray, it's a really well supported show. The primary school and nursery and Lhanbryde and Urquhart Rainbows had lots of great entries in the children's section. "The judges were impressed by all the entries, not just in the section they were judging. The prizes were presented on the day by Stephanie Christie from Blackhills Gardens.

"Thanks have to go to all the committee, volunteers, judges and exhibitors who help make the show a success. It's hard work but worth it.

"Also to the local businesses who donated prizes including, Keystore, Threaplands and R George butchers to name a few."
