Four new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray in last five days

FOUR new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray since last Friday, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 129.

In the nine days prior to Friday, 13 cases were confirmed in the area – meaning 17 cases have been confirmed in the last two weeks.

The four newly-confirmed cases tested positive for the virus on September 17, September 19, September 20 and September 21. Since the previous update, on Friday, 375 Moray residents have tested negative for covid-19.

Since the outbreak began, 10,281 tests have been taken by Moray residents – with 10,152 negative and 129 positive.

Last week's death update showed one more Moray resident had died due to covid-19 – taking the area's total to 21 since the outbreak began. Of those, 13 tested positive and died within 28 days and eight had covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 2140 cases of coronavirus. That's 75 new cases in the last five days.

Scotland-wide update

Scotland has today recorded its highest number of positive coronavirus tests in a single day since the outbreak began, with 486 confirmed.

The total number of cases confirmed in Scotland is now 25,495.

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Scotland is now 4236, with 2506 having tested positive and died within 28 days. In the week up to September 22, 39,462 people were newly tested with 1993 positive.

The number of people in intensive care with recently-confirmed covid-19 is 10, with 73 in hospital.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 732,500 people in Scotland have been tested, with 25,009 positive and 707,491 negative.

A total of 4347 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital.
