Four deaths and 317 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray in the last week

FOUR Moray residents have died due to Covid-19 within the last week, taking the area's death toll since the outbreak began to 53.

Eight people have now died due to the virus within the last three weeks in Moray.

Of the 53 people to have died, 41 tested positive for Covid-19 and passed away within 28 days, while 12 had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

Meanwhile, 317 cases of the virus have been confirmed in Moray within the last seven days, taking the total to 5312 since last March.

This is a reduction on the total of 256 cases confirmed last week, but exactly the same as the amount confirmed two weeks ago.

Across the same period, 750 negative tests for Covid-19 were recorded in Moray – down on 586 last week but level with the figure of two weeks ago.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 47,918 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began.

Moray neighbourhood update

All bar one of Moray's 24 'neighbourhood areas' confirmed at least three cases of Covid-19 between October 25 and October 31.

The exception was North Speyside.

Elgin is once again the worst-hit town in Moray, with 78 cases of the virus, ahead of Lossiemouth with 32 and Buckie with 22.

In Forres, a total of 19 cases were confirmed, while Keith and Fife Keith reported 15.

The other cases are as follows:

  • Cullen, Portknockie, Findochty, Drybridge and Berryhillock: 20
  • Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry: 19
  • South Speyside and the Cabrach: 18
  • Lhanbryde, Urquhart, Pitgavney and seaward: 18
  • Burghead, Roseisle and Laich: 14
  • Rural Keith and Strathisla: 13
  • Rafford, Dallas, Dyke to Dava: 11
  • Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish: 10
  • Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley: five
  • Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward: four

The number of people aged 16 plus in Moray to have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine is 69,576. This accounts for 87.3 per cent of the area's adult population.

The number to have received one dose is 74,080 – or 93 per cent of all those aged 16 plus in Moray.
