NOMINATIONS closed at 4pm today (Monday) for the upcoming Heldon and Laich by-election.

Four candidates will contest the seat, which became vacant following the resignation of Eric McGillivray last month.

Those who have put their names forward are Pete Bloomfield (Scottish Conservative and Unionist), James MacKessack-Leitch (Scottish Greens), Joyce O’Hara (SNP) and Dennis Slater (Independent).

The by-election will be held on October 1, with the count taking place the following day at Lossiemouth Town Hall.
