A decision is expected by the Spring about what use Grant Lodge will be put to.

Cash to refurbish the disused building in Elgin's Cooper Park is now available thanks to the £100million Moray Growth Deal.

And supporters of Grant Lodge have now been invited to join a working group for the Moray Growth Deal.

One possibility on the table is that the building will be turned into a centre to showcase Moray's food and drink products.

However, it is understood that other options are also being considered.

The council has asked both the Friends of Grant Lodge and the Grant Lodge Trust to nominate representatives to sit on the Moray Growth Deal working group.

Stuart Huyton, from the Friends of Grant Lodge group, said: "We're honoured to be asked.

"The most important thing is to finally get Grant Lodge back into use after so long."

Grant Lodge was built between 1766 and 1790, to a design by the great Scottish Architect Robert Adam.

It has been boarded-up since a fire in 2013.
