A SCOTTISH Greens MSP has praised the people of Moray after data illustrates the drastic lifestyle changes they have made to comply with official coronavirus advice.

Highlands and Islands MSP John Finnie pointed to research published by Google which shows changes in mobility in each region, as people follow rules to minimise the transmission of the virus.

The data shows that in Moray visits to non-food shops are down 88%, while workplaces have seen a drop of 54% as many people heed advice to work from home. The figures also show a significant increase in the number of people spending time in residential areas, with a 12% increase in Moray.

Mr Finnie said: "The current situation is putting people under an enormous amount of pressure and changing the way we all live our lives.

"As this data shows, people in Moray have made significant changes to their daily routines and they deserve an enormous amount of credit for that. Only by following the official guidance to stay at home can we protect the NHS and save lives."
