Pleading guilty to the offence at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday, Inrig also admitted a charge of careless driving.

The guilty pleas came after Sheriff Olga Pasportnikov repeated the charges to the man, who was representing himself.

The court heard that Inrig caused a “two-vehicle road traffic accident” through “driving without due care or attention”.

Court documents also state that the 60-year-old had been travelling too close to the car in front.

Sheriff Pasportnikov added that Inrig was “previously disqualified for drink driving, but that was just over 10 years ago”.

The driver’s sentencing was deferred for reports to be drawn up, and he was disqualified from the roads in the mean time.
