Elgin gun found at Munro Place property believed to be from WWII era





Police believe that a gun found at an Elgin property is from the World War II era.

The firearm, found at a home on Munro Place where a man died on November 27, 2024, was handed to officers on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood that the gun and death are not linked and the man’s death is believed to have been medical-related.

Police firarms units attended the scene at the weekend to ensure the weapon was safe. Officers remain outside the home - near Seafield Primary School - and are searching the property.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 1.10pm on Saturday, 11 January, 2025, a firearm believed to be from World War II was handed in to police after being found at a property on Munro Place, Elgin.

“As part of our enquiries, searches of the property are ongoing.

“There is no risk to the wider public.”
