WHAT better way to shake off the lockdown blues before Christmas than a safe walk in the great outdoors!

That’s what the Moray Ball Group in partnership with Moray health walks did when it hosted a Christmas reflection walk in the Cooper Park in Elgin.

Starting at the library, the group enjoyed a brisk walk, complete with masks and Santa hats in some cases, around the park.

Moray Ball Group (Be active Life Long) supports over 500 older people across Moray to stay socially connected and this year has been a challenge to do that.

Tracey Peden, social enterprise development officer with Moray Council, added: “However our community development wellbeing team are striving to introduce innovated creative ways to keep people engaged and socially connected in a safe way and outdoor green space activities do just that.

“It was a really good day. We had 16 people and really positive feedback. For some this was the first kind of social activity they have done since lockdown.

“We are going to roll out the green space activities in January and February.”

A handful of BALL groups have resumed sessions but with fewer people and social distancing in place. You can find out more at the Moray BALL Facebook page.
