Moray pupils at Elgin High School ‘inspire us all’, prizegiving event hears

The head teacher of Elgin High School has said staff and parents are “incredibly proud” of the school’s pupils, at its prizegiving event.

Head Teacher Hugh McCulloch praised the “remarkable achievements” of senior pupils and the “incredible journey” of S1 to S3 pupils across two ceremonies at the school.

This year’s S6 Dux was named as Damian Prusinovski, who also won the first prize in Advanced Higher Biology.

While the S5 Dux was named as Millie Anderson, who won third prizes in English, History and Politics and credit prizes in Application of Maths and Mathematics - all at Higher level.

The S4 Dux prize was won by Orla Stepney who - at National 5 level - placed first in Music and Physics , second in Chemistry, third in Biology and received a credit award in Mathematics.

Kai Gallacher Brew was named the winner of the Academic Achievement in S3 Award, with Julia Jedrzejewska taking the S2 honour and Amy Johnstone the S1 prize.

Talented pupils provided the musical backing for both events, through individual performances and the Elgin High School Orchestra.

In his speech to the senior prizegiving event, Mr McCulloch emphasised the “flexibility and choice” on offer at Elgin High School across qualifications ranging from National 3 to Advanced Higher alongside vocational options.

The head teacher also praised pupils’ work on volunteering, community work, and sporting efforts over the past year.

“I would like to reiterate just how incredibly proud we are of each and every one of you,” Mr McCulloch added

“Your achievements inspire us all.

“You have embraced the opportunities presented to you, and shown what can be accomplished through enthusiasm, commitment and resilience.

“These experiences have prepared you not just for your next steps, but for a lifetime of learning, contribution, and success.”
