A HORSE has had to be put down after it collided with a car on the outskirts of Elgin this morning.

The horse was one of four running loose on the A96 near to the Oakwood Cookery School.

Two of the animals were hurt in the incident, which was reported to the police at 6.15am.

Traffic was restricted to one lane for several hours, as police officers and others tended to the horses in woodland at the side of the road.
