THE average house in Moray now costs more than in Aberdeen, according to new figures from the Land Registry.

However the change-about has more to do with with steep falls over in Aberdeen rather than a rise in Moray prices.

Prices in Moray have actually remained relatively stable over the past 12 months, with the average home now costing £152,755, as opposed to £151,772 a year ago.

This represents a slight rise of 0.6%

Meanwhile in Aberdeen the same figures are £148,114, as opposed to £158,190 last year.

This 6% fall is the largest of anywhere in Scotland.

By total contrast, over the same period of time the Highlands has experienced a sharp 6% increase.

The average Highland home now costs £169,749, as opposed to £160,124 last year.

Nationally, house prices in Scotland have grown twice as fast as the UK average.

North of the border the average property now costs £153,968, which is 1.4% more than 12 months ago.
