A FESTIVAL focusing on human rights and global affairs is taking place in Moray.
Moray College UHI is hosting the three-day event, which is designed to highlight the impact that human rights violations have on people and their communities.
The event, which will include exhibitions, films, discussion and debate, launches on Monday, December 9 at 6pm with the opening of a Health of a Nation photo exhibition by Network of Photographers for Palestine.
It will illustrate the effects of the occupation on the health services in Palestine through photography.
Professor Graham Watts, who is a trustee and board members of Medical Aid for Palestinians, will also be talking about how they provide medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
Day two of the festival will include a screening of the short film Ambulance by Mohamed Jabaly, a young man from Gaza City who joins an ambulance crew as war approaches in 2014.
In the evening, Five Broken Cameras will be screened, giving a first-hand account of protests in Bil’in, a West Bank village affected by the Israeli West Bank barrier.
The film will be followed by a question and answer session with Mohammad Abu Srour, a Palestinian lawyer from Aida Refugee Camp who will be joining live from the West Bank.
Throughout the festival there will be information stands, with representatives of Moray Supports Refugees, Highland - Palestine and Amnesty International UK Write for Rights among those taking part.
Anyone can take part in the Write for Rights 2019 campaign by attending the college to write messages of support to people around the world who have suffered injustice.
The Festival is being sponsored by Starbucks, which is providing complimentary drinks at the evening events.
