A LOSSIEMOUTH man has been placed on the Sex Offender's Register after more than 40 indecent images of children were found on his laptop.

An investigation from Police Scotland's Child Abuse Unit led to officers raiding 61-year-old John Donaghey's home, where they discovered indecent images of child abuse on a laptop.

The search was carried out on July 6, 2021, with eight still images of the most obscene kind plus 36 others of girls aged between five years of age and 16 were found in Donaghey's home.

Fiscal depute David Morton told Inverness Sheriff Court that the images involved sexual activity, non-sexual activity and erotic posing. They had been downloaded between December 23, 2018 and July 6, 2021.

Sentencing was deferred until April 21 for a background report and Donaghey, of Commerce Street, Lossiemouth, had his bail continued.

Defence solicitor Robert Cruickshank reserved his comments until sentencing.
