A DONATION to an Aberlour care home will help its residents to "have a news" with their family and friends.

Speyside Community Council purchased two iPads using a grant from power giant Scottish and Southern Energy's (SSEN) Resilient Communities Fund.

Local youngsters Harvey and Archie Spark last week delivered the devices to the village's Speyside Care Home.

The community council's chairperson, Marion Ross, said: "At this very difficult time it is important that the residents are able to maintain contact with family and friends, particularly when actual visits are either restricted or impossible.

"We wish the residents many happy online hours with their families.

"We would also like to thank Andy Mackinnon, at SFG Software, who has set up the devices ready for use."

Thanking the community council, and the young brothers for dropping them off, a care home spokesperson said: "Our residents love to keep in touch with relatives and friends near and far, and these iPads will make it so much easier to stay connected."

The 2020 round of SSEN's Resilient Communities Fund focused on aiding community-based responses to assist the most vulnerable during the pandemic.
