Jailed for fourth drink-driving offence

A man has been jailed for six months after admitting his fourth drink-driving offence.
Joseph Stewart, who has been staying on Romach Road, Forres, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court earlier today to be sentenced.
The 27-year-old had previously admitting driving on the A96 while disqualified and drunk.
Sheriff Sara Matheson was told the police received a tip-off on July 6 that Stewart was driving.
They kept a lookout for the 27-year-old and stopped him near Nairn.
Fiscal depute Fiona Murray stated that a breath test revealed Stewart had almost four times the legal limit of 22mcgs of alcohol in his system. His reading was 80mcgs.
Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: "My client continues to struggle with substances but is working hard at it. He knows what to expect. His record does him no credit."
Sheriff Matheson told Stewart: "You should not have been driving far less drink-driving.
"But don't give up on yourself yet. When you are in prison, start thinking about how you can turn things around."
Stewart, who used to live in Inverness, was also disqualified from driving for four years.
