TWO Keith landmarks turned purple at the weekend in support of Rotary’s Purple4Polio campaign.

St Rufus Church and the War Memorial in the town were lit purple on Saturday, October 24, to mark World Polio Day and remained lit up for a couple of nights.

Sonya Warren, an SNP councillor for Buckie and member of Keith Rotary Club, said: “It was really good to work together with the community to light up both the church and the war memorial for the first time ever.

“We did this to raise awareness and highlight Rotary’s Purple4Polio campaign. The reason purple was chosen is because after children get their polio vaccination they get a little purple mark on their pinky finger.”

Keith Rotary is collecting money for the campaign. Every pound raised is tripled by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The club currently has a raffle ongoing to raise funds.

Details will be on Keith Rotary's Facebook page tomorrow, with 120 tickets to be available and four winners set to be chosen. For more visit https://www.facebook.com/KeithRotary .
