A KEITH woman who stamped on the head of a distant relative will be sentenced next month.

Cerys Bewick (21), of Langstane Lane, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court today and pleaded guilty to the assault which occurred on Elgin High Street on May 11, 2019.

A co-accused, Jamie Dunbar of Milton Drive, Buckie, was jailed for 10 months when he appeared last year and admitted a similar offence.

Fiscal depute Robert Weir said: "They had been socialising in various licensed premises in Elgin city centre when they met.

"They had an argument and Bewick fell over. Her co-accused thought she had been assaulted. CCTV shows her getting to her feet and stamping on the victim's head twice.

"A CT scan showed no significant injuries."

Bewick will reappear for sentencing on May 21 after a background report has been prepared.
