A MORAY man has become the top apprentice electrician in Scotland.
Lewis Sim was named the country's best third year apprentice after triumphing in a competition in Dundee.
It follows another award two years ago when he was named the best first year apprentice.
Lewis, who's employed by McDonald and Munro, has been studying to become an electrician at Moray College.
The 22-year-old from Lossiemouth said: "I never really liked school that much but I took to the course immediately.
"My dad Alistair is a plumber and two of my cousins work offshore as electricians so I was always thinking of doing something like this rather than going to university.
"I enjoy the practical hands-on side of it, but I also find the theoretical side of it really interesting as well.
"I like to know how things work."
The competition Lewis has won is jointly run by the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust and by Skill Electric.
Involving 19 colleges from right across the country, it started in February with two heats for the north and south of Scotland..
The seven top scorers from the heats then went onto the Scottish final, which was held at Dundee and Angus College.
It is a possibility that Lewis may now go on to represent Scotland in a UK-wide final.
