Constant Follower to perform at The Loft in Kinloss, promoted by Hilltop Live

Live music promoters who recently moved to the area are launching a series of “Highland” gigs on a local farm.

Maia Eden and Oliver Dudok van Heel, who are also known as Hilltop Live, will host their first event at The Loft, East Grange, in Kinloss, featuring Stirling-based Constant Follower, who’s being supported by local musician Scott William Urquhart.

Constant Follower - Stephen McAll, originally from East Kilbride - describes his music as “Soaring, ambient, dream-pop, experimental folk”. His first album - a collaboration with Urquhart - ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’ was released to critical acclaim in 2021 following a lengthy recovery from a serious assault as a teenager that left him with life-changing injuries.

He’ll be performing later this month on Saturday, November 16,

Maia said: “Constant Follower’s music blends moving melodies with a sense of connection, resilience, and healing. Twice nominated for Scottish Album of the Year, their sound is rich with emotional depth, reminiscent of the stark beauty of Low and the sonic curiosity of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk.”

Oliver added: “Scott is a guitarist and songwriter from Forres whose enchanting, intricate, and beguiling acoustic guitar tracks are regularly featured on BBC6 Music and further afield.”

Clash Magazine also praised Constant Follower as “hopelessly beautiful” while The Scotsman newspaper described Urquhart as playing with “languorous dexterity”.

The pair again collaborated last year on ‘Even Days Dissolve’, nominated for Scottish Album of the Year.

Hilltop Live has three years of promotion experience in their former home of Sussex where they organised 30 live performances, ran their own festival, and raised over £7000 for charity.

“We are very excited to be launching Hilltop Live in our new home in the Highlands,” said Maia.

Oliver added: “We hope to help grow opportunities for independent musicians while giving Highlanders access to quality and affordable live music.”
