THE 4th Lossiemouth Company Boys’ Brigade has been chosen to benefit from this year's Co-op Local Community Fund.

The company's captain James Allan recently talked about the future of the group being at risk due to its inability to find a home.

However, after securing a place at the Steamboat Inn last week more good news has followed this week with the company to benefit from the Co-op's local community fund.

Mr Allan appreciates the support and hopes Co-op shoppers will back the group.

He said: "At a time when funds for charitable organisations are becoming more difficult to access, we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Lossiemouth.

"Due to Covid-19 and not being able to meet since March, losing all our income and not being able to fundraise, this couldn’t have come at a better time.

"The money will be spent on the company and will help us greatly in being able to give the boys in our care the best opportunities in life that we can.

"This will benefit our community greatly, taking boys off the streets in our town and giving them a chance to gain new skills and achievements and set them in a good stead for future life.

"To help us raise vital funds, we will be relying on Co-op shoppers. Every time they buy Co-op own-brand products they get a 5 per cent reward for themselves, and a further 1 per cent goes to local causes like ours.

"Co-op members can decide which local group they would like to back by going online www.coop.co.uk/membership . We really hope that people will visit the website and choose to support us."

The 4th Lossiemouth Boys' Brigade provides a range of activities including badge work and competes in various competitions including football, high jump and swimming. The company is for boys aged between five and 18.

We also take boys of various trips and outings including an activity weekend away and a two week oversea visit each year.

If you’re not a member and would like to support the Boys' Brigade, you can join at your local store or online at www.coop.co.uk .
