Run by Salon Business Magazine, the Salon Business Awards have been recognising hairdressing talent for eight years, encouraging hair experts from around the UK to enter a host of salon and individual categories.

To enter the Curl Specialist category, Karen had to submit an image showcasing her curl work, describing the final look, the inspiration behind it and the steps to creating it.

After providing information on her education and the specialised curl services she offers, Karen was chosen as one of eight finalists by a team of highly-respected industry judges.

She said: “To win this award, being up against seven other respected curl experts, would be a huge honour.

"I love working with curly-haired clients and have attended many training courses and watched many different artists working on curly hair throughout the years in order to adapt my knowledge in this area.

"As a hairdresser, being able to work on all different hair types and textures is extremely important.

"To be recognised for being a specialist in curly hair would be an incredible achievement, not only for myself but also for our salon and to help showcase to clients that we are experts in all things hair.”

Karen will find out if she has won the category at the Salon Business Awards Grand Final on Monday, June 13, at Quaglino’s in London.
