LOSSIEMOUTH enjoyed a bumper sunshine weekend with locals and visitors flocking to the East Beach.
Following the opening of the town's new £1.8 million bridge on Tuesday, May 31, the beach has become open for business again for the first time in nearly three years.
In that period, it has been claimed in an economic study, that the town has been losing around £1.5 million a year in lost tourism and business income.
The town was busy over the weekend as the mercury soared to 22 degrees celsius at one point on Saturday.
And there were lots of people at Station Park on Sunday for a community picnic to celebrate the end of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
Maureen Halkett, chairwoman of the Lossiemouth Business Association, said she had never seen the town as busy as it has been since the bridge opened last week.
"It's incredible. I have been in Lossie for well over 20 years and I have never seen Lossie as busy as this," she said.
She urged visitors to the beach to look after it and protect it for years to come, by ensuring all rubbish is taken home or put in litter bins before leaving the town.
