David Fraser, who is originally from Nairn, has been named a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in Scotland, the country’s leading source of expertise in civil engineering policy.

ICE Scotland has over 8500 members in Scotland, drawn from public, private and academic sectors, who design, build and maintain Scotland’s vital transport, water, flooding, energy and waste infrastructure.

Only 458 of these members are Fellows, a title only awarded after a rigorous application process for those civil engineers who have made a significant contribution to society.

David, managing director of Allied Infrastructure Ltd and aviation director of Colas UK, said: “When I left school in 1977 to serve my time as an apprentice joiner at Fort George, never in my wildest dream would I imagine 45 years later I would have the privilege to be a Fellow in The Institution of Civil Engineers.

“I have had a fantastic, career mainly in aviation, working in all corners of the UK and recently Ireland and would like to thank all those who have supported me on my journey.”

ICE Scotland director, Hannah Smith, said: “I would like to congratulate David on his magnificent achievement. This globally-recognised qualification is the ultimate recognition for a civil engineer’s knowledge, ability and experience.

“Civil engineers shape the world around us. David’s achievement just shows the extent to which it can be a fulfilling and rewarding career.”
