MacMoray Festivals to hand FREE tickets to loyal customers

AN EXTRAORDINARY deal is set to see thousands of MacMoray’s most loyal customers handed free tickets for next Easter’s festival.

People who have been to all of the festivals held at Elgin’s Cooper Park to date will be offered free entrance to 2025’s edition.

And those who have missed an edition still have the chance to qualify, as well, if they attend MacMoray’s Summer edition and MacPiping Hot British Pipe Band Championships in Forres.

Organiser Andy Macdonald is keen to give back to the community that has supported him through three festivals.

The news that he has a healthy daughter - his first - en route has inspired Andy to spread the love and happiness to all ‘MacMorians’, as he is calling them.

“The original plan was to give free tickets to all the loyal customers who have been to all MacMoray events,” he said. “But we wanted to go a step further.

“That is why we are offering anyone who has been to all three MacMoray Festivals and anyone who goes to both MacMoray Summer and MacPiping Hot a free ticket to next Easter’s MacMoray Festival. There are no catches.

“We are not a community organisation, but we are an organisation for the community.

“Personally, I’m in a very good place right now. My partner Angela is pregnant with my daughter and subconsciously I think this is my way of celebrating.”

Andy is not a stranger to this sort of deal - having handed out meals for pennies during the coronavirus pandemic when he was running bars and living in Lancashire.

But this is the biggest and craziest giveaway he has done - with thousands of customers set to be able to attend 2025’s MacMoray Festival free of charge.

The event was likely to sell out in any case, but money was not Andy’s main consideration.

He added: “The feelgood factor of being able to celebrate and reward everyone with such a crazy offer to me is brilliant, and the right thing to do. It’s time to give back.

“We are currently working out the logistics of exactly how this will be organised, but we have a few ideas so it won’t be too difficult.”

MacPiping Hot is due to take place at Grant Park in Forres on Saturday, June 8, with the Summer Special of MacMoray Festivals due to take place on August 4 and 5.
