Man charged with murdering 66-year-old Highland woman

A 33-year-old Glenurquhart man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court, accused of murdering a 66-year-old woman.

Neil Carmichael made no plea to killing Morag Carmichael when he appeared in court today.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court again on January 6.

The area around a Culnakirk home in the hills above Loch Ness near Drumnadrochit is still sealed off by police who are investigating the death which occurred on Monday.
