Forres incident ends as armed police arrest man





A heavy police presence at a Forres housing estate has been stood down following a standoff which lasted nearly eight hours.

Police confirmed that the situation began with a report of “concern for a person” at around 1.40am this morning, at Twinning Link, Forres.

However, an eyewitness told The Northern Scot that a man was led down the street by two armed police officers with his hands behind his back.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

The spokesperson added: “Around 1.40am on Friday, 6 June, 2025, we were called to a report of concern for a person at a property in the Twinning Link area of Forres.

“Officers attended and the incident was contained. There were no injuries.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection enquiries are ongoing.”

A picture taken at 8.15am shows at least four police vehicles on the site, while an earlier image taken at 7.49am shows a firearms officer with gun in hand.
