THE Bell’s Rotary Marafun was another runaway success.

A maximum field of 625 runners took part in the biennial charity event through the centre of Elgin.

Since it was launched in 1991 the event, organised by Elgin Rotary Club, has raised in excess of £550,000 for local good causes.

The town centre relay marathon was blessed with sunshine on Sunday as 125 teams pounded the streets.

Over 100 primary school children from across Moray took part in a parade lap before the main race.

The event also included a family fun day which saw music, demonstrations, a display of new, classic and vintage cars and motorbikes. There was also a Food Fest in St Giles Church and a host of charity stalls.

Marafun convener Brodie Ross said: "We are very pleased with the way everything went and all the runners seemed pleased with their day."
