Later analysis found that Rooney, who lives on Bain Avenue, Elgin, had 24 indecent images, five of which were in the most graphic Category A.

They involved boys and girls between four and 15 years old engaged in sexual activity with themselves and adults.

In addition, there were 13 videos, 10 in Category A and three in B found in the search, which took place on August 30, 2023.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told officers also found 27 extreme images and videos of adults having sex with animals.

Rooney admitted two charges of possessing indecent images and one offence of distributing a photograph of a child.

Sheriff Gary Aitken deferred sentence until August 13 for a background report and an assessment for a sex offender's rehabilitation programme.

Rooney was immediately placed on the Sex Offender's Register.
