To celebrate Scotland’s Year of Stories, which aims to showcase stories inspired by or created in Scotland, Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s the visitor centre hopes to collect works about the area to share at a new exhibition at the Scottish Dolphin Centre and online.

Scottish Dolphin Centre Manager, Alison Rose said: “We would love to hear from anyone who has memorable stories to tell about beautiful Spey Bay.

"We know there is so much to tell here, from magical dolphin encounters, the fascinating salmon fishing heritage of Tugnet and special family memories for so many people who have visited the area over the years.

"Our visitors regularly tell us about their memories of sitting on Icehouse Hill, watching the sea and looking out for osprey or dolphin fins. Others remember family members working on the nets long before the Dolphin Centre existed.

"We hope to capture some of these stories and share them with WDC’s supporters and other visitors."

One of the first entries has come from previous volunteer at the centre Thomas Plant, who sent in a poem entitled Spey Bay Memories, that encapsulates the wonderful variety of wildlife that can be spotted in Spey Bay throughout the year.

The centre are encouraging stories in all forms and people can submit prose, poetry, video, music, or anything creative.

Stories should be between 150 and 300 words long and submissions can be sent by email to dolphincentre@whales.org or by post to Scottish Dolphin Centre, Spey Bay, Moray, IV32 7PJ.

The deadline for stories is September 15 2022 but stories will be featured all through the summer so can be submitted now.
