Elgin’s Asda to host mobile breast screening unit
A mobile breast screening unit is coming to a north-east town for three months beginning on Monday, August 10.
The North East Scotland Mobile Breast Screening Service will be situated in Elgin’s Asda car park on Edgar Road.
Women aged between 50 and 70 who are registered with a GP at Linkwood Medical, Maryhill Group Practice and Fochabers Medical Practice will receive an invitation to attend a screening four weeks before their appointment date.
Women aged 71 and above can make their own appointment by contacting the Screening Service at the phone number 01224 550570.
The unit has been located in Lossiemouth from July 9.
Sarah Philip, manager for the Breast Screening Service, said “The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of being successful.
“We hope that women invited for the first time will take advantage of their invitation for mammography.
“For women who have been screened previously, it is important to attend to ensure that there have been no changes over the past three years.”
