A MORAY arts organisation has launched a project to keep spirits up as the country moves to lockdown.

Moray Arts Development Engagement (M:ADE) is aiming to keep people connected, help people to feel less alone, raise a few smiles and touch hearts in unsettling times through its M:ADE Mail initiative.

People are being asked to apply a little creative thought and effort to come up with communication – in any form which can be sent through the post – then pass it on to M:ADE, who will send this on to another contributor.

The contribution could be a drawing, letter, story, photograph, voucher with a note, funny anecdote, postcard with words of comfort, or any alternative you like.

M:ADE is asking people that they only send contributions via a local post box when undertaking an essential outing.

.

M:ADE director Stacey Toner said: "The next few weeks are going to be tough for everyone.

"We want to try out M:ADE Mail as a way for people to safely connect in some way with others in their local community.

"It may be simple but I know how happy I am when I get something 'real' through the post, so I am hoping that this creative take on traditional communication methods will help everyone feel less alone.

"The beauty is anyone can take part – those in care homes, families in isolation, people already living alone – and the more people that take part, the bigger impact we can have.

"It may even have longevity past the current pandemic."

The project is open to everyone in Moray and contributions should be mailed to M:ADE Mail, 28 King Street, New Elgin, Elgin IV30 6BX.

M:ADE seeks to respond in creative ways to issues which affect Moray.
